Water & Solar

Investing in smart water, sanitation, and hygiene programs reduces poverty.
Clean water is not a given in rural Haiti; only 43% of the rural population has reliable access to it, less than half the regional average for Latin America and the Caribbean(worldbank .org). Piton is no exception. Without piped infrastructure, families rely on collected and stored water, making contamination and waterborne illness a constant risk.Piton Partnership has worked to close this gap at the school by building a handwashing station and a water collection array that feeds two on-site cisterns, giving students and staff a safer, more reliable source close to home. But like the village, this system faces regular threats from storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes, making upkeep an ongoing necessity.
