Ag & Husbandry

Agriculture and husbandry work in Piton, Haiti
In Piton, Haiti, farming is a way of life. This agrarian community grows what it eats, and that tradition starts right at school. Piton's community gardens double as a classroom where students learn to farm the land that feeds their families.
Beyond the garden, families form cooperative groups to raise and sell coffee, rabbits, and goats—sharing labor, knowledge, and profit. These co-ops turn subsistence farming into shared opportunity, strengthening both food security and the local economy.
At Piton, growing food and growing community go hand in hand.
