Thanks to the support of a generous and practical-minded supporter, we built our first public latrine in July 2026! It is situated between the two villages we serve, Piton & Piton West, on the footpath used by the local villagers, and those coming from further away.
Activities in Piton have increased greatly. The population has more than doubled due to the arrival of refugees from the Port-au-Prince area and villages in between. More people visit these two mountain top villages now more than ever, and the need for a public latrine is urgent for the sake of sanitation.
This post will be updated with photos as construction continues.

Update: 26 July 2026
The Piton community commemorates the new public latrine with a celebration
Transcript English:
Hello friends in Piton, Happy Sunday to you all. I celebrate with you for this new latrine. Thank you for your hard work and care.
Remember: This latrine is a gift from an American named David and his wife Lisa. We must take care of this gift.
Thank you God for this wonderful gift and our family we have created together.
Also, I have a message from Mr. David: "We are grateful to have an opportunity to help with this project
and pray it blesses the whole community and reminds you although thousands of miles may separate us from the Piton community, we think and pray for you often. May you feel the love of Jesus."
Transkripsyon Kreyòl Ayisian:
Bonjou zanmi nan Piton, Bon dimanch pou nou tout. Mwen selebre avèk nou pou nouvo latrin sa a. Mèsi pou travay di nou ak swen nou.
Sonje: Latrin sa a se yon kado yon Ameriken ki rele David ak madanm li Lisa te ban nou. Nou dwe pran swen kado sa a.
Mèsi Bondye pou bèl kado sa a ak fanmi nou te kreye ansanm.
Epitou, mwen gen yon mesaj nan men Mesye David: "Nou rekonesan pou opòtinite pou ede ak pwojè sa a
epi priye pou l beni tout kominote a epi raple nou, menmsi plizyè milye kilomèt ka separe nou ak kominote Piton an, nou panse epi priye pou nou souvan. Se pou nou santi lanmou Jezi."
